Healthcare, Financial, and Legal Expertise for Managing Mental Illness in the Family
We help plan and manage the healthcare and life costs of disability for families. We provide financial advising, planning, and fiduciary services for families, and have a special expertise in managing mental illness and addiction. We help families navigate the world of private insurance, Social Security, special needs trusts, and "smart spending" of private dollars to ensure families and/or loved ones with disability remain economically intact over time.
DFS is our business name but the brand and reputation behind it is Tom O'Connor. Tom has spent 25 years advising parents, families and financial planners about disability management around the U.S. Tom has helped families across the US navigate the world of mental health care, hospitals, rehabs, and case management.
So our expertise is a unique and twofold - knowing the inside world of mental healthcare in America and managing the short/long term expense of living a life with mental illness and disability.
We perform financial life care planning and special needs trust planning, financial case management, bill pay, and vendor/payee management. We also act as private conservators so families can avoid the costs of a Court-supervised guardianship.
